PLANNING

The importance of planning Soccer Drills

If you’re coaching a soccer team of any age or ability, then it is important that you plan ahead in order to get the most from your practice. Without careful planning, your team is less likely to benefit from the limited amount of time which they will have to train.

Our Print & Go practice plans are a great way to make sure you have a training schedule prepared for every drill where you are in charge. However, depending on how much time you have to complete each practice, you might want to divide your time equally between each section of the plan. It is also a good idea to make a note of any areas in which the team which you are coaching appears to be struggling, so that you might focus future drills on that area in particular.

It is also a good idea to make notes if you are using your soccer drills as a means of choosing who will play in your next competitive game. For example, many online poker players use the strategy of note-taking in order to determine the playing style of their opponents. Within soccer, it can be one of the most effective ways of managing your team’s strengths and weakness, which can prove crucial during a big game.

Lastly, there is a very practical element to planning every soccer drill, which should not be forgotten. Make sure that you have access to all the equipment you will need throughout the entire practice before you begin. This will prevent time being wasted while you look for balls, cones etc. You should also make sure you have a back-up plan at all times – what will you do with your team if the weather suddenly becomes unsuitable to play in, for example. If you plan your soccer drills thoroughly, your team will undoubtedly benefit in the long run.
